The Park is a quiet residential area, predominantly made up of individual, large, elegant villas, and some smart apartments. It is thought to be one of Cheltenham’s most well-regarded locations and within striking distance of amenities in Tivoli, Montpellier and the hustle and bustle of the Bath Road where you will find a great selection of local shops and cafes.
Rich in history, The Park takes the shape of a teardrop, with Cornerways building, serving as the focal point at its tip, originally intended to be the entrance to the gardens with The Park area and featuring a towering structure. The original design was envisaged a grand promenade and a crescent of villas. However, the site was acquired by architect Samuel Whitfield Daukes in 1839 and he transformed The Park into “pleasure grounds,” overseeing the development of the surrounding villas. The remaining entrance gates and Fullwood House within the grounds, now home to the university, add further points of interest to one of Cheltenham’s most prestigious locations.
The Park offers families a great location for St. James primary school, Bourneside senior school and Dean Close School.
